About Me: Dr. Ashok Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, with a specialization in power electronics and renewable energy systems. He earned his Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur, where his research focused on advanced buck-boost inverter systems. He holds an M.Tech. in Electrical Drives and Power Electronics from IIT Roorkee and a B.Tech. from NIT Raipur. Dr. Kumar’s research interests include power electronic converters for renewable integration, EV charging systems, wireless power transfer, and reliability analysis. He has authored several high-impact publications in IEEE Transactions and holds six patents, including granted technologies on transformer-less and buck-boost photovoltaic inverters. He has successfully secured competitive research funding exceeding ₹3.2 crores from DST, ReNew Foundation, and IIT (ISM), and currently supervises multiple Ph.D. scholars and postgraduate students. As a reviewer for top-tier journals such as IEEE TIE and TPEL, he contributes actively to the global research community. An experienced academic, Dr. Kumar has developed innovative courses and played a key role in upgrading laboratory infrastructure. He also contributes to institutional development as Chief Warden and member of several strategic committees. His outreach includes invited talks across India, focusing on sustainable energy and electric mobility. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, is seeking highly motivated and dedicated researchers to join his group focusing on high-performance power electronics, wide bandgap (GaN/SiC) semiconductor applications, and advanced power conversion systems. Dedicated doctoral (PhD) aspirants and existing Master's (M.Tech) students who are passionate about hands-on hardware development, simulation modelling, and cutting-edge energy infrastructure are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates must review the official eligibility criteria and formally submit their applications through the regular IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Institute Admission Portal, while simultaneously emailing their updated CV and a brief statement of research interest directly to Dr. Kumar.
