* Those who opt for B.Tech. in Mining Engineering/Mining Machinery Engineering OR Integrated M.Tech. in Applied Geology/Applied Geophysics OR Dual Degree B.Tech Mining Engineering & MBA, must not have any form of colour blindness. A certificate to this effect from a government registered medical practitioner has to be uploaded at the time of online reporting for seat acceptance.

 

* PwD candidates cannot opt for B.Tech. in Mining Engineering/Mining Machinery Engineering OR Integrated M.Tech. in Applied Geology/Applied Geophysics OR Dual Degree B.Tech Mining Engineering & MBA.

 

# The standards of visual acuity With or without glasses, the standards will be adhered to strictly for candidates seeking admission to Mining Engineering as per DGMS Circular 14 of 1972. Persons with one-eyed vision are not permitted to work underground. Candidates with these limitations are not allowed to opt for admission to Mining Engineering and Mining Machinery Engineering.

# Gender Restriction for Mining Engineering Profession
• Section 46 (1) of the Mines Act, 1952 states that:

“No woman shall, notwithstanding anything contained in any other law, be employed
(a) in any part of a mine which is below ground,
(b) in any mine above ground except between 6:00 and 19:00 hrs.”
However, female candidates will be admitted to Mining Engineering or Mining Machinery Engineering related courses at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

$ The 5 years Dual Degree program (B.Tech. in Mining Engineering, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad) & (MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, IIM Mumbai) with intake 60 is jointly offered by IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and IIM Mumbai at IIM Mumbai's New campus to be built up in Angul, Odisha once it is ready, till then it will run at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and IIM Mumbai's Mumbai campus respectively w.e.f. Academic Session 2025-2026.
