About Me: Prof. Brijesh Kumar Mishra is a Professor in the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, where he has been a faculty member since 2011. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science & Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and an M.Tech in Environmental Engineering from MNNIT Allahabad. His research expertise spans advanced water and wastewater treatment, mine environment management, industrial waste utilization and resource recovery (circular economy approaches), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Risk Assessment (including human health and ecological risk), and pollution mitigation. He has successfully led 18 research projects (15 completed, 3 ongoing) funded by premier agencies including DST, MoEF&CC, Ministry of Jal Shakti, and Ministry of Coal, focusing on sustainable water management, pollution exposure assessment, and resource recovery. Prof. Mishra has also completed over 43 consultancy assignments (42 completed, 1 ongoing) for organizations such as Hindalco, Lloyds Metals, Coal India, NTPC, NMDC, Tata Steel, DVC, Lanco, CSEB, Thriveni, and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, covering Environmental Impact Assessments, Audits, Risk Analyses, Mine Water Management, Ash Dyke Stability, Groundwater And Surface Water Quality Studies, Fly Ash and Red Mud Utilization, Tailings Management, Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Monitoring, Waste Characterization, Carrying Capacity Studies, and Compliance Verification. He has authored 55+ SCI/SCIE-indexed journal papers, 11 book chapters, 32 conference papers, and holds a patent on heavy metal removal and its application in energy storage. He has guided 11 Ph.D. scholars (9 as sole supervisor), is currently supervising 14 doctoral candidates, and has mentored over 39 postgraduate students. Beyond research, he actively contributes to policy development, government advisory committees, and industry training programs, bridging academia, industry, and governance for sustainable environmental solutions.
