Since 2006, our department has offered a two-year M. Sc Chemistry program. Students enroll in the program by taking the Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM), which is administered annually on a rotating basis by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. As a result, there are numerous required and elective courses in the course framework. The M.Sc. Chemistry programme at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, is designed to provide a strong foundation in both theoretical and experimental aspects of chemical sciences. With a curriculum that balances core areas—such as organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry—with interdisciplinary exposure, the programme equips students with the knowledge and skills needed for advanced research and industry roles. The department boasts state-of-the-art laboratories, active research groups, and a vibrant academic environment, fostering innovation and critical thinking. Students benefit from opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research, attend workshops and conferences, and collaborate with experts in materials science to environmental chemistry, positioning them for successful careers in academia, research, and beyond.
