About Automation Centre
The centre is dedicated for catering the smooth functioning of all the major activities of the institute through in-house developed software modules. The centre aims to afford smooth space for possible upgrading of the existing systems with new requirements from time to time. The in-house developed software coordinates and integrates different sections/centres effortlessly. Currently, the centre has developed various software modules for proper management of information systems of different sections like Office of Dean (Administration), Dean (Academic), Dean (R&D), Dean (Student Welfare), Dean (Infrastructure), Dean (Faculty), Dean (Innovation & Incubation), Establishment, Finance & Accounts, Store & Purchase, etc.
The centre also develops/changes the software according to the needs of the institute's New Education Policy. The centre is operating from its own building near Admin Block of IIT (ISM) Campus. The center's software developers have access to dedicated centralized servers, high-configuration desktop computers, and high-speed internet connectivity. Most of the web-based applications are developed using open-source software/database.
MIS Services
The services provided by the Centre includes management of different projects in various stages of software life cycle such as analysis, design, testing,deployment and maintainence. The centre also provides technical assistance to the Academic and Administrative Staff of the institute for the smooth functioning of MIS. Some of the major development in the couple of years are given as follows:

| 1 | Pre-Registration | This web-based system handles the pre-registration of courses by students. It validates the rules of PG Manual and course structure. It also takes care of the applications related to double major, minor, Dual degrees. This takes care of the validation with respect to course template for various courses. |
| 2 | Summer Registration | This web-based system handles the summer registration of courses for student who have backlog and dropped courses. This system handles all the courses to be offered in summer semester |
| 3 | Student Admission | This web-based portal will handle online admission of MBA and PG courses. This data will be available through the MIS to various admission committees with role-based access to various departments. |
| 4 | Online Scholarship portal | This portal will allow the students to apply online for various scholarships like MCM and other institute scholarships, fee waiver and free ship. There will be interface in Dean of Student office for approval of these scholarship based on the marks and other criteria. There will be option to forward the external scholarships. |
| 5 | Additional Program registration (Double Major, Minor, Dual) | This portal is introduced for allotment of Dual, Double Major and Minor courses. The students can give the preference during pre-registration time, and there is a provision for student allotment from DUGC side. |
| 6 | CBCS | This portal is developed for offering CBCS courses among students. The students can give the preference during pre-registration time, and there is a provision for student allotment based on their merit. |
| 7 | Admission Portal | This portal has been developed for admitting students in various UG/PG/Ph.D. program apart from Part Time Executive Programs and Part Time Ph.D. Programs. |
| 8 | Faculty Recruitment Portal | This portal has been developed for all types of Faculty recruitment purpose. |
| 9 | Non Faculty Recruitment Portal | This portal has been developed for all types of Non Faculty recruitment purpose . |
| 10 | Online Semester Fees Portal | This portal has been developed for the students to pay their semester fees online. |
| 11 | Self Assesment Module | This module has been developed for all calculating Income Tax by employees and help in calculation of TDS. |
| 12 | Salary Module | This module has been developed for generating salary of each and every employee. |
| 13 | GPF Module | This module has been developed for generating GPF of all employees having valid GPF no. |
| 14 | Leave Module | This module has been developed for the employees and students to apply leave online. |
| 15 | Complaint Module | This module has been developed for students and employees to file their various complaint online. |

This module has been developed for the employees and students to apply for booking Institute vehicle online.

Email Services
IITISM provides email to all its Faculty Members, Students and Employees including all officials of IITISM on iitism.ac.in domain. We provide email IDs immediately after MIS registration of an employee and the students. At present we have more than 10000 active students on our domain. The email policy for alumni has not yet been decided, however as a healthy practice we do not delete any email IDs even after 6 months of passing out of students. Apart from emails we also have several hundreds of groups in which restricted users can send email without any problem. Individual users can also create groups of their choice and add members to it.
We create email IDs for all our new employees and students as soon as their MIS registration is completed. In case the email ID is not created within 3 days of their creation of MIS they may contact webmaster[at the rate of]iitism[dot]ac[dot]in .
