Important Information for Students

The Institute prohibit any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student or asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

Applications from foreign nationals are accepted every year for admission to various postgraduate programmes, viz. 2 Year M.Sc, 3 Year M.ScTech, 1 Year M.Tech, 2 Year MBA and Ph.D programme. The candidates can directly send their application to the Institute by the end of January (end of March for Ph.D.) for the session commencing in July/August. The desirous foreign nationals may submit their application, complete curricula vitae and other credentials with regard to their academic qualifications indicating clearly all details with supporting documents before the deadline as mentioned.

A student of the School may be allotted a seat / room in any one of the hostels of the School for occupation for a limited period. Fresh allotment of accommodation shall be made for every academic session. Unless otherwise terminated, an allotment of accommodation in a hostel for an academic session shall be valid for the period beginning from the commencement of monsoon semester to the last date of holding the End-Semester examination of the immediate next winter semester.

The objective of HEC is to give students a role in the administrative governance of the Hostel and help them develop leadership and administrative skills.

For the smooth and proper functioning of different student clubs, a purchase guidline is formulated. This is help club members in purchases and other day to day financial aspects. At the beginning of the financial year a tentative annual budget of the club activities will be prepared by the concerned club Coordinator and submitted to the Faculty Advisor. After scrutiny, the same shall be recommended by the Faculty Advisor to the Associate Dean (SA). All expenditures will be incurred in accordance with approved budget only.

Depending on the gravity of the incident reported, standing disciplinary rule applies to all student of the Institute.

The objective of a Students’ Gymkhana (SG) is to give students a role in the administrative and academic governance of the Institute and help them develop leadership and administrative skills. SG activities will be subordinate to academic activities. The SG shall function through the Students’ Senate (hereafter referred to as the Senate) and its Executive wing. The Senate shall be the Central Representative, Legislative and Supervisory body of the students. The Senate shall comprise of Senators representing students from all academic programmes.
