Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) - Dhanbad

The Computer Centre is solely responsible for creating and up keeping the Information and Communication Technology & Computation related facilities available at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad since its inception in 1987. The Centre is presently operating from its own building situated near New Academic Complex of IIT (ISM) Campus. The Centre is also engaged in designing and extending other facilities of NKN Project with NIC/MeitY inside the Campus apart from using 1 Gbps ILL of NKN. National Knowledge Network (NKN) project is aimed at establishing a strong and robust internal Indian network that will be capable of providing secure and reliable connectivity among the leading educational institutes.

Goals

  • Building an ideal IT learning hub for all to start and enhance their IT skills at all levels so as to promote “Skill India” and “Make in India” programme of Government of India.
  • Develop an efficient cross platform environment for hosting and promoting different research and technological incubations for high performance computing and data analytics.
  • Develop a scalable system for managing access control and auditing for “Write Once Access Anywhere” in era of distributed computing.
  • Creating ‘Smart Class’ and ‘Video Conferencing’ facility for the Institute.
