The center formally started operating on 10th January 2023, the date on which the Memorandum of Association (MoA) was signed between the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad and the Vashisht Foundation.
The principal activities of the center are developing new technologies related to Hydrogen and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) in order to combat climate change. Specifically, they may be delineated as follows:
An alumnus of IIT-ISM (1967 Batch PE) and President, Omimex Group, USA, Naresh K. Vashisht announced a fund of Rs 10 Crore to his alma mater for setting up a Hydrogen & a Carbon (CO2) Capture and Sequestration Centre.
