Academia and industry share a symbiotic relationship in terms of mutual interaction, collaboration and participation towards solution to real time problems, leading to a product/process development. This bonding may act as a catalyst for a faculty member to enrich his/her skills and expertise in quality teaching and research. This will further help the faculty member to engage with the industry partner for technology development and innovation in cutting edge technology through collaborative research projects. Such types of projects are also important for the industry as they look towards academia for solutions of their concerns.
Apart from collaborative research, the class room teaching will become quite lively and practical-oriented as the faculty member will discuss live projects/case studies. Apparently, the student will have a feel of the industry without being physically there.
A concrete “Interaction Proposal” to be submitted to the Office of Dean (R&D) for necessary approval. The Interaction proposal should contain the following:
Under Faculty Mobility Program, especially the young faculty members (Assistant and Associate Professors), may visit the relevant industries/research laboratories, normally not in Faculty’s hometown, for one to two weeks during summer/winter vacation.
Faculty members from engineering discipline are expected to plan such visits to Industry /R&D Organizations or any other organization of similar type.
Faculty members from Science/Management/Humanities and Social Science discipline are expected to plan such visits to Industry /R&D Organizations/CSIR/TIFR or any other organization of similar type.
Faculty members can use their CPDA/PDF for FMP.
